Castle leads the way with D1 driver training.

- 15-May-2017 -

Better safe than sorry - professional, accredited trainers, produce professional, accredited and safer drivers.

What to expect when learning to drive a minibus with Castle trainers.

The issue of D1 driving licenses can be seen to be a somewhat grey area; Grandfather Rights alone with a section 19 permit allow you to drive a minibus with up to 16 passengers, but should you? At Castle Minibus we believe you can never be too safe where children and people in general are concerned. Therefore we founded our very own driving school in 2014 training teachers and education professionals to safely drive minibuses with 8 to 16 passenger seats, giving them the certifications, as well as the confidence they need on the road.

Along with the success of our other services; minibus leasing, rentals and rehoming scheme, Castle Driver Training is now responsible for one in ten education professionals in the UK successfully passing their D1 Driving test. We are passionate about the safety of pupils on board minibuses, and the people driving them, and have even created an app, The School Transport Manager, to guide drivers through the necessary safety checks before setting off on a trip, helping schools stay compliant within their obligations under the section 19 permit.

We pride ourselves on our exceptional pass rate, but we are not solely a numbers company, rushing through the exam and considering it a job well done. We work with teachers from day one, supporting and aiding their success. For example, we recommend a special medical assessor for booking applicant’s medicals, www.gettingamedical.co.uk. Not only is this a better value option with an eye test included within the one appointment, it is a quicker and more convenient solution for our clients.

More often than not, driver training companies begin their involvement once the D1 theory test has already been passed. Our approach at Castle Driver Training is to work with the candidate from day one. This involves helping them arrange their medical, revising for their theory tests and reminding all parties of necessary tasks in advance. Therefore, time spent by busy Bursars and School Managers is kept to a minimum. This is why our unique service is proving so popular.

Getting the job done

To prepare your teachers for their involvement, we estimate your candidates should have passed their D1 within 16 to 20 weeks from start to finish. Within this time, we recommend a minimum of ten hours will be needed to pass the theory test, and then we take them out of school for only two days. One and a half days of practical training and then the practical exam. They will be taught by our own highly qualified A.D.I. professional trainers who have achieved an enviable pass rate of over 90%. So with all the elements considered, the time needed to pass is minimal, reducing the costs of support teachers and the burden on other teachers.

It`s easy, so let’s get started
