Why football clubs love Castle Minibus

Toot toot! That’s us blowing our own trumpet again… But its’ true, football clubs love Castle Minibus for the hire of their vehicles, so why hide our light under a bushel?

Why football clubs love Castle Minibus

Sheffield Wednesday FC

The Owls, as some of us know them, play in the football league and have done since 1867. Their home ground is Hillsborough stadium in the north-west of Sheffield and are founder members of the Football League.

Interesting stuff, but what are they doing with their Castle minibus? Our latest product for the hire of minibuses is called the Freedom Plan. Sheffield Wednesday have taken a 17 seat Ford Transit minibus and plan to use it for the obvious – transporting the academy team to and from their matches. The important thing is the Freedom Plan itself. With this new service you can take short term leases, with a minimum term of 30 days and make it as bespoke and flexible as you need. You can extend when you like, add to it with other vehicles, or end the contract with no termination fees.

Bradford Park Avenue

Another club, Bradford Park Avenue, have hired a minibus from Castle, this time for a very special trip to France. Donald Simpson Bell played for Bradford Park Avenue when WW1 broke out. He felt duty bound to serve his country and sadly fell during the battle of the Somme.

“Donald Bell's sacrifice is preserved now in a formal memorial called Bell's Redoubt a few yards from the village on the Somme in the exact spot he lost his life. We will remember him, and the hundreds and thousands who lost their lives on the Somme.” – Harry Gration, BBC Look North (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37318169)

The team from Bradford Park Avenue travelled to the memorial this year for the anniversary of Donald’s Victoria Cross presentation and subsequent death. They were joined by many members of the family and the press.

Donald Simpson Bell was the only professional footballer to receive a Victoria Cross, on the 5th July 1916. Just five days later he was killed in action.

Bradford City’s One in a Million

One in a Million is a children’s charity local to the football club, that Bradford City support through sponsored events such as the three peaks challenge and ‘It’s my City – let’s run for it’. The club hired a 17 seater minibus, this time to ship supporters to the three peaks challenge that took place in the Snowdonia National Park during the beginning of September. They certainly made use of the extended storage space with all their boots – this time, of the climbing variety!

So you can see, apart from the obvious transport, needed to get teams to and from where they need to be (along with a lot of kit), Castle’s minibuses are much loved for the special days too. If you’re part of a football club, be it League One, Championship or the village 5-a-side and you feel the need for a minibus, be it long term or on the bespoke Freedom Plan, give us a call.
